TRAINING DAY OPEN TO PUBLIC (18+) INTERESTED IN LEARNING HOW TO SAFELY INTERACT WITH HISTORIC RAILROAD EQUIPMENT. OTHER NON-RAILROAD VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED
NO PUBLIC PASSENGER RIDES AVAILABLE.
Requirements:
Volunteers must be age 18 or older, zero exceptions.
Volunteers must become Timber Heritage Association members.
Volunteers should wear protective clothing - long pants, work gloves (where needed), and closed-toe shoes. Safety-toed boots are recommended.
Volunteers must maintain a high level of personal safety, and be mindful with regards to the safety of fellow volunteers, and the general public.
Volunteers must show up to a minimum of two volunteer sessions per calendar year.
Railroad volunteers should be physically capable of performing tasks related to building and maintaining the Samoa museum grounds, such as lifting up to 50lbs, prying, swinging tools, and using basic power tools.
All speeder volunteers must attend and pass the General Rules and Safety Course on May 13th, 2023
Volunteers which fail to adhere to safety standards or do not operate equipment in a correct, safe manner in accordance with established protocols may have their operating privileges revoked. The board of directors will review the situation and determine the appropriate course of action for reinstatement.
